Chemistry / Teacher Education Joint Program

The Department of Chemistry and Biochemistry and the Teacher Education Program (TEP) offer a joint program which allows you to get your Masters of Arts with a Chemical Education Emphasis during year one of the program with the Department of Chemistry and Biochemistry and your Preliminary Single Subject Teaching Credential in year two of the program.

The two-year full time program is designed to build your chemistry content knowledge and provide you with the academic and practical skills needed to begin a teaching career. During year one of the program you will take graduate chemistry classes, serve as a teaching assistant for general chemistry classes, perform research, and participate in a department affiliated outreach program. In June, you will immediately begin the 12-month teaching credential component of the program. This includes a full year of supported student teaching concurrent with education coursework.
